Meet Ro'Vin Garrett

Ro’Vin’s service as Brazoria County Tax-Assessor Collector began on January 1, 2017, Ro’Vin Garrett began her tenure on January 1, 2001 and was an employee of the office for 16 years prior. The daughter of a former county judge, for several years she served as the official “courthouse tour guide” for Brazoria County and has given numerous presentations to school children and adults on the history, function and purpose of Texas County Government.

Garrett is past President of the Tax Assessor-Collectors Association of Texas (TACA), served six years as the organization’s Secretary/Treasurer, and served 4 years as the “first ever” TACA Director of Education. In 2013, she received the TACA Distinguished Service Award, was nominated for Tax Assessor-Collector of the Year in 2004, and has received the TACA President’s Award 5 times for her outstanding contribution to TACA. In her community, she is Past President of the Exchange Club of Angleton, 2019 Chair of the Houston Area Council of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA), Past President of the South East Express Network (SEEN) of ABWA, SEEN 2014 Top Ten Woman of ABWA Candidate, 2013 SEEN “Woman of the Year”, and a 2012 Federation of Houston Professional Women “Woman of Excellence”. She has previously served on the board of the Community Food Pantry, the Brazoria County Alliance for Children and the Angleton Chapter of the American Red Cross. Garrett is a Trustee and non-serving elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Angleton, Texas, where she has led small group studies and taught Financial Peace University. She is the recipient of the 1997 Outstanding Woman of the Texas Agricultural Aviation Association. Garrett’s homemade gumbo has graced many an auction in Brazoria County to support local political and charitable groups. Garrett has been a supporter and member of Republican clubs throughout the county, a Lincoln-Reagan Day Dinner supporter for years and has worked during many legislative sessions serving as a resource on property taxes and motor vehicle registration and title issues. She has been instrumental in helping pass numerous bills over the years, striving to best meet the needs of constituents and local government. She has three grown children, two daughters and a son. She is also privileged to be the grandmother of two sweet girls and one sweet boy.
